First released in 1985 as part of the Windows operating system, Paint has now reached the end of its lifespan 32 years later.
It has been added to the list of “features that are removed or deprecated in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update”, so now it’s only a matter of time before the easy-to-use graphics editor will no longer be available on your Windows PC.
Paint first started life out as a 1-bit monochrome licensed version of Paintbrush and it wasn’t until 1998 (in the Windows 98 update) that Paint could save in JPEG format. Nonetheless, it was one of the first graphics editors to be used by a majority of people and became a central part of Windows.
Recent versions of Paint have been much improved, but have still considered to be poor compared to other free alternatives out on the net.

Fear not, a successor to Paint was introduced back in April known as Paint 3D which features 3D image making tools as well as some basic 2D image editing.
Whether you loved it or hated it, Paint has been one of Microsoft’s longest serving apps and it will be sad to see it go.
