We are very pleased to share with you that our Digital Marketing Apprentice Josh has completed his apprenticeship having achieved a distinction grade in his Level 3 qualification (a huge congratulations from all the Datacentreplus team!!). With a number of our sales and marketing staff working from home during the global pandemic, we recently caught up with Josh from the comfort of his working from home desk to learn more about his apprenticeship journey.
What made you want to apply for an apprenticeship?
I didn’t know what I wanted to do after college and I really didn’t want to go to university. I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do, while all my friends had already made their choices. While looking at job adverts, an advert for Digital Marketing Apprentices popped up, I had always found IT and digital things interesting, so I thought that this may be a way to turn it into a career. I went to the first meeting with a Business Development Manager and from him explaining the details of the role and how everything worked, I knew this apprenticeship was the right way for me to go.
What was it that interested you about a career in digital marketing initially?
I think the fact that I have always had an interest in social media played a big part in my decision. I have always been really creative and have enjoyed creating different types of content (graphics, videos, blogs) so having the opportunity to utilise this on a day to day basis was something I couldn’t wait to get started on.
How did you find the work based learning experience and how do you think it benefited you?
I really enjoyed the work based learning! In fact, learning on the job and quick learning was one of the key things that really attracted me to undertaking my apprenticeship. It has been great to gain practical experience at the same time and work alongside some great colleagues at Datacentreplus. Our Agency Tram Map campaign has probably been one of my favourite content pieces we have worked on and it was fantastic to see such a positive response from the digital and creative community.
What has been the most enjoyable part of your apprenticeship?
I have really enjoyed working with such a great team who have provided me with lots of valuable information and knowledge that has enabled me to progress in my apprenticeship.
Why did you choose Datacentreplus to undertake your apprenticeship?
As I have always been interested in technology, I was thrilled to get the opportunity to work in a data centre it’s a big part of how the internet works!). Also, the team seemed really friendly and it looked like a really nice working environment with a great office atmosphere.
What have you enjoyed most about working at Datacentreplus?
I really enjoy working as part of a hardworking team, we have done lots of fun campaigns such as the Agency Tram Map (which I don’t think I would have got the opportunity to do anywhere else). I have also been fortunate to attend various events and have built up a friendly network of people who have supported me throughout my apprenticeship journey.
