Mental Health Week – Raising Awareness

For Mental Health Week this year, we’re raising awareness of the influence of loneliness on our mental health and the practical steps we can take to address it. Some people are at higher risk of feeling lonelier than others. But there are things we can all do to cope with loneliness and prevent some of the pessimism and mental health problems that can come with it.

Dealing with loneliness can be difficult and at Datacentreplus we encourage you to start talking to your friends, family or even colleagues.

According to many recent studies, the pandemic has given rise to a sense of loneliness and isolation undermining the confidence of many people.  The rise of people working from home and adapting to mobile working has brought about seclusion and isolation for some people. Being confined to our houses and not being able to socialise might have driven people further apart which may lead to poor mental health.

There is no denying that workplaces have changed a lot over the last few years. The pandemic forced many companies to embrace flexible ways of working for the first time but what about connections at work? Family? Old friends? This week is all about helping each other to understand and manage our mental health.

So, if you haven’t had much social contact recently, it’s a good idea to get back in touch with your loved ones even if it’s through a call or video calling.   Let your friends and family know how you are doing and share your experiences with them.

The Mental Health Foundation is encouraging social media users to add the hashtags #IveBeenThere and #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek and to tag @mentalhealth on Twitter and @mentalhealthfoundation on Instagram and Facebook to raise awareness.  If you think you may need some help, we encourage you to contact the Mental Health Foundation.
