Datacentreplus completes power upgrade in response to data centre demand

Datacentreplus have successfully completed a power upgrade for the Manchester-based data centre to cope with increased demand and anticipated future growth.

The data centre has gone from strength to strength over the last couple of years and the increase in power capacity is a sign of strong continued growth.

The investment is not only a response to accommodate current loads, but a move to future-proof the data centre as it rapidly expands; accommodating for the uptake in data centre services such as colocation, cloud and dedicated servers.

Mashukul Hoque, Managing Director of Datacentreplus, comments, “As we move to a society becoming more heavily dependant on the transacting of data, it has become somewhat a commodity – the rising adoption of cloud technologies is evident of this.

“Upgrading the power capacity of the data centre is no easy feat – It took us just over a year as it is a highly complex process, including major ground works to lay new power cables. However, it was eased by our unique location that puts us in a position to make such an upgrade possible in this space of time.”

The extensive upgrades involved tripling the current total power capacity and the installation of higher capacity Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS) to provide the data centre with increased resiliency.

The power upgrade is only one element of a larger plan that sees it gearing up to become a prime player in the data centre industry in the North West of England. The company is currently evaluating locations for a 2nd site.
